3.5/5 - (4 votes)

While organizing an event, be it a wedding reception, an engagement ceremony or a corporate annual day, what needs to be in the mind is that a large part of its success is dictated by the manner in which the guests and invitees are engaged. This is where the presence of a professional emcee can bring all the difference between a memorable event and a forgettable, lukewarm one. A great emcee can hold the audience’s attention and ensure they interact with him/her.

However being an emcee is no piece of cake, it requires a quite a list of qualities and personality traits to be a good one and do justice to the profession! Here is a list of the five most important qualities that every emcee must have:

Public Speaker- This is the first requirement; as an emcee, one needs to be extremely comfortable and should rather enjoy talking and engaging people in conversation. One should be comfortable with big crowds.

A good sense of humour- the point of having an emcee on your event is to act as an ice breaker who engages everybody’s attention. They need to have the capability to bring laughter and build happiness throughout the event. This is why it is always better to ask for their previous work which will allow you to be sure that the ceremony is in good hands.

Time Keeper- Besides helping with the crowd participation, one of the prime reasons of hiring an emcee is to keep things under a schedule and stick to the time slots because be it weddings with muharats or corporate events with designated slots- time management is crucial. It is the responsibility of the emcee to ensure that everything runs smoothly and on time.

Responsible and reliable- The emcee needs to responsible and especially reliable as he/she is the person who is the on the stage representing you. They will show responsibility by ensuring everything is moving at a reasonable pace. A good emcee is always ready for anything that might go wrong.  They can think on their feet.

Versatile-An emcee needs to be flexible and versatile because ultimately there is no help once they’re on the stage. They should be spontaneous; someone who is capable of doing different event themes which is only possible when one has a creative mind.

At the end of the day, an emcee is responsible for what events happen while he/she is on the stage. They need to make sure that they end the program on a happy note and everyone is satisfied t the end of the day.
